Greg Asbagh, passionate grower, lecturer and author, will talk to us about tropical plants and his own tropical garden in Leucadia. Greg maintains it is possible to have a "dry jungle" of plants that have a tropical look but which need only a modest amount of water. Greg's garden and articles on tropical horticulture have been featured in many well known publications.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Natural Enemies. UCCE San Diego County IPM Program Representative, Scott Parker and UC Master Gardeners present a scientifically based approach for pest management, utilizing least toxic approaches. Ants will be used as a model to demonstrate the proper implementation of an IPM approach. Additionally, Natural Enemies (biological controls) will be discussed.

Darren Smith, San Diego Coast District Resource Ecologist, State of CA Dept. of Parks/Recreation. presents "Restoring Native Habitat at Torrey Pines State Reserve Flintkote Plot". Darren will show us how he is replacing invasive plants with native plants in our coastal environment. We will also have a special guest, Robin Pokorski, Director of the California Garden Clubs, Inc. She will favor us with a brief overview of the CGCI.
